Mogadishu, QN - Sheikh Hassanm Dahir Aweys, the hard-line militant of Alshabab surrendered to Himan and Heeb adminstration of central Somalia after he escaped from Barawe town in South.
The spokesman of Himan and Heeb, Mohamed Omar Hagafey, told Qalin News that his administration arrested Aweys, the hardliner that is believed to be the mentor of the militants of Somalia.

Aweys with several of his commanders fled from Barawe town 180kms south of Mogadishu, the capital, few days ago after fighting between two Alshabab groups broke out.

The spokesman of Aweys' former Hezb Al-Islam groups, Mohamed Osman Arus told the local media that Aweys went to Himan and Heeb area for negotiations, but didn't mention what the negotiations are all about.

Unconfirmed reports state that Aweys is going to Doha for negotiations brokered by the Qatar government and will sign a peace deal with the Somalia government.

Himan and Heeb president Abdullahi Mohamed Ali locally known as Barleh will hold a press conference in Adado, the provincial town of the administration later today and will talk about the fate of Aweys.

Aweys was the defense secretary of the Al Itihad Al islami that fought in Somalia to form an Islamic state, but was defeated in the fighting by Ethiopian forces in late 1997 after heavy fighting in Lugh district in Gedo region.

Aweys' arrest is a major blow to Alshabab, while the militant group is dealing with severe internal fighting among the top leader Ahmed Abdi Godane and his deputy Mukhtar Robow Ali, of whom Aweys was supporting.

Alshabab militants, an Alqaeda affiliate is fighting in Somalia to topple the Somalia federal government assisted by strong African Union peacekeeping forces AMISOM and install Islamic state in Somalia.
