Mogadishu – The Somalia president Hassan Sheikh Mohamed opposed the formation of Jubbaland state and the election of the regional president of the administration. The president speaking at an opening ceremny of an orphanage school implemented by Turkish aid agency IHH in Mogadishu said, “In Kismayo the outcome became of what we were concerned about, we want the people of Kismayo to elect their administration through free and fair” “We ordered the government forces in Kismayo to avoid any sensitivity and conflict”
500 delegates at Kismayo university announced that they elected Ahmed Mohamed Islan, the commander of Raskamboni fighters as the president of Jubbaland state of southern Somalia.
The election sparked both cheers and jeers from the people of the region and the government. Barre Adam Shire, a former warlord and Somali government PM claimed that he was also elected as the president of Jubbaland and called Ahmed Islan to respect him election.
There is emminence of armed conflict in the region, which may result wide displacement of the people of Kismayo and bother Madobe and Hirale have well armed militias in the port city of Kismayo.
